The Little Eagle Chinese Dance Academy is a nonprofit organization that foster children who like Chinese dance and Chinese culture. It was formed 7 years ago and is directed by Shaolu Xu McLaren. The children in this group use Chinese dance as a pathway to promote the Chinese cultural and ethnic residing in our community. They have participated in several events organized by local communities, such as Earth Day Celebration and Multi-culture Celebration at Centennial Park, Window of the World at Cooksville, and Chinese New Year Celebrations. Shaolu Xu McLaren was trained in the performing arts and performed in the People Liberation Army Art Troup for several years. After leaving the Troup, she became a dance teacher at a distinguished cultural center in Hebei Province, China. Since 2004 she has lived in Nashville, TN, where she teaches Chinese children traditional Chinese dance at the Golbal Educational Center. One of Shaolu's goals is to introduce the diversity of Chinese culture to the Nashville community through traditional Chinese dance. Groups she has training have performed in a number of venues in both TN and KY, where they have been well received. We are delighted to have the group perform at our Feb. 11, 2012 Unity Feast!
