Carmen Turner

Carmen TurnerCarmen Turner is a wife, mother, and educator.  She holds a B.A. and M.A. in English and recently earned her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics. Carmen is currently teaching at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville.

Prior to that, she taught Language Arts in the Bedford County, TN and Metropolitan-Nashville Davidson County, TN school systems.  She spent one year teaching in Siguatepeque, Honduras,  at Bilingue Escuela El Alba. In 2005, Carmen pursued her interests in Composition Studies by teaching First-Year Writing at Tennessee State University. The following year she began teaching at the University of Memphis.

A Baha’i for twenty-one years, Carmen has deep roots in the Baptist church where her faith in a compassionate and merciful God was enkindled.  This desire to know and worship God initiated a spiritual journey which led her to recognize Baha’u’llah as the Messenger of God for this day.

Carmen recently celebrated twenty years of marriage to Craig Turner.  They are the parents of four sons, Gabriel, Garrison, Jordan, and Julian and one daughter, Cara.
